Counselling

Curious about how I can help?

Below are some of the challenges I work with most frequently, but this is by no means an exhaustive list. Additionally, the struggles we face are usually less clear-cut and categorical than we initially believe them to be – so don’t worry if you don’t feel like you fall under one of the below issues. An initial consultation will help me figure out whether or not we are a fit to work together.

If I don’t feel I can support you, I will always let you know. I have a great network I can refer out to as needed.

Anxiety

Anxiety can show up as constant worry, racing thoughts, physical tension, sleep issues, difficulty regulating emotions – and so much more. We each have what I like to call a “stress signature,” meaning the way our stress and/or anxiety shows up will be unique to us – and can evolve over a lifetime. Together, we work to understand what’s driving your anxiety and develop tools to help you feel calmer, more grounded, and better able to cope with daily stressors.

Self-Esteem

Struggles with self-esteem often involve harsh self-criticism, self-doubt, or feeling “not good enough.” In session, we explore where these beliefs come from and utilize a combination of strategies to build a more compassionate, confident relationship with yourself.

Grief

Grief can follow the loss of a loved one, a relationship, or an important life transition. I truly believe there is no “right” way to grieve. Sessions where grief is a prevalent focus provide space to process complex emotions, honor your experience, and find meaning. My approach to grief work incorporates ideology and elements of existential theory.

Relational Challenges

Relationship difficulties can arise in romantic partnerships, families or friendships. I help clients explore patterns in communication, boundaries, and attachment so they can create healthier, more fulfilling connections.

Sleep Issues

Sleep problems can include difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or simply not feeling rested. This can significantly impact emotional well-being. Oftentimes, sleep and anxiety are highly intertwined, with one propelling the other until they are working together in a vicious cycle. We work together to understand the thoughts, habits, and stressors affecting your sleep and to develop strategies that halt the unhealthy cycle.

Low Mood

Low mood refers to feelings of sadness, loneliness, emptiness, lack of motivation, or disconnection from things you once enjoyed. You don’t have to have a diagnosis of depression to benefit from therapy. In fact, the longer you wait to treat low mood, the harder it becomes. Our sessions help you better understand these feelings, address underlying factors, and reconnect with a sense of hope.

Unexplained Persistent Physical Pain

Ongoing physical pain can be deeply frustrating, especially when medical tests don’t fully explain what’s happening. Therapy can help explore how the nervous system, stress, emotions, and learned pain patterns may be contributing to ongoing symptoms. By increasing awareness of these mind-body connections and developing new ways of responding to pain signals, many people find relief and a greater sense of safety and ease in their bodies.

Session Fees

Initial Consultation | 15 minutes | Free

Intake Appointment | 60 minutes | $160

Standard Session | 50-55 minutes | $160

While a standard session is normally 50 minutes, I ask my clients to ensure they have carved out a full hour – as I do often tend to near the full hour in our sessions.

Tax-Exempt Services

As of June 2024, counselling and psychotherapy services are now tax-exempt when a professional is licensed by one of their provincial regulatory bodies. As such, you will never pay tax on your services.

Insurance

After every session, I provide a receipt which you can then use for reimbursement with your insurance provider. If you will be using insurance, please ensure your insurance covers “counsellor” or “guidance counsellor.” Most do, but it is worth verifying.
